Vanessa Knutsen is an Israeli-American filmmaker living in Los Angeles. She recently completed her debut feature film “Only Humans” scheduled to premiere in 2018. The film stars Peri Gilpin (Frasier) Micah Hauptman (Everest, Homeland) Brendan Meyer (The OA, All These Small Moments) and up-and-comer Ivy Matheson (The Lears, Under The Silver Lake).
Vanessa earned her Directing MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Her thesis film “The Promised Land” had its world premiere at the 2011 Palm Springs International ShortsFest where it was honored with two awards – Best Student Short Film and Cinema Without Borders. The film has since screened at several festivals across the US and internationally.
Vanessa is a recipient of the 2008 Motion Picture Association of America Award, the 2010 Stanley Kramer Fellowship in Film Directing, the 2010 Edie and Lew Wasserman Film Production Fellowship, the 2010 Women in Film Foundation/Verna Fields Memorial Fellowship, a 2011 UCLA Spotlight Award for Excellence in Filmmaking, a 2011 Caucus Foundation Grant and a 2012 BAFTA Student Film Award.
Vanessa is currently in pre-production on “Fairfax,” a web series she wrote and will direct.
